THIRTIETH SUNDAY OF THE YEAR CYCLE C
INTRODUCTION:
When we look at our congregation we sometimes feel proud of it and sometimes sad about it. We feel proud when the church is full and people are dressed well and the singing is lively. God looks at us in a different way, he is not deceived by outward appearances. He looks for different things. He looks at the inner spirit of our community, at the real, innermost aim we have when we come to him.
GOSPEL – Luke 18: 9 – 14
Jesus addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. “Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity — greedy, dishonest, adulterous — or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’ But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’ I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The month of October is dedicated to our Lady. October was chosen to honour & give thanks for the protection that she gives to the church in answer to praying the Rosary

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF MISSION SUNDAY
World Mission Sunday is a day set aside for the Catholic Church throughout the world to publicly renew its commitment to the missionary movement, coordinated by the Pontifical Mission Societies, who are also known as Missio.
In October the second collection is for PMS.

POPE’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR OCTOBER

We pray for the Church; ever faithful to, and courageous in, preaching the Gospel, may the Church be a community of solidarity, fraternity and welcome, always living in an atmosphere of synodality.
CATECHISM OUTING
Will be on the 12th of November to Spionkop Dam. It cost R150 per child and that will include transport, food pack and the entrance fee. Parents to please pay as soon as possible to secure transport. All children to bring a signed indemnity form
All Souls Mass
Will be on the 2nd of November @ 5 :30 pm in the Garden of Remembrance.
