THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR CYCLE C

INTRODUCTION

Unless you repent, you will all perish. These hard words come from the mouth of Jesus. We read them today because we are approaching Easter and it is already the third Sunday of Lent. We will try to repent. We will try to approach Easter in the way in which Moses approached God in the burning bush. Moses showed us what it meant to repent. He fell to the ground. He respected God. He asked him what to do. He surrendered to him

GOSPEL: LUKE 13: 1 – 9

Some people told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices. Jesus said to them in reply, “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans? By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did! Or those eighteen people who were killed when the tower at Siloam fell on them—do you think they were guiltier than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem? By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!” And he told them this parable: “There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard, and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none, he said to the gardener, ‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have found none. So cut it down. Why should it exhaust the soil?’ He said to him in reply, ‘Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future. If not you can cut it down.'”

After Mass: Please sanitize your seat. sanitiser and paper towels are available in the front of the Church.

Under the Covid rules (level1) only temperatures will be checked of people attending Mass.  It will not be necessary to fill in the form.

This has started, please inform Father if you would like your home to be blessed.

Pledge envelopes are available in the porch. If you cannot find your pledge envelope, please do not hesitate to contact the Parish Office. If you are not able to make it to the office, send a message to the Parish Secretary.

LENTEN APPEAL

The Lenten Season calls us to place our faith and hope in the Lord, since only if we fix our gaze on the Risen Christ will we be able to respond to the Bishop’s appeal. Let us never grow tired of doing good. The envelopes are available in the Porch

PARISH SECRETARY POSITION

We are looking for a permanent parish secretary to work the office hours indicated in the left column. Duties include working with the parish priest & the treasurer, general administrative office duties, correspondence & preparing the weekly bulletin and administering petty cash.

The incumbent must be an individual who:

• is fluent in English
• knows MS-Word, MS-Excel and PowerPoint
• is confidential, trustworthy, meticulous, accurate and neat.

CATECHISM CLASSES

Closes next week Friday 25/03. There will be a class on that day.

April is health month, on the 3rd CNG & other health workers will be providing the following services: checking of vital signs to detect chronic diseases as they are silent killers, TB testing HTS and HIV. Only at RPP.
