FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER CYCLE A

INTRODUCTION

When we prepare ourselves for a long journey, we may be worried and ask ourselves: Shall I arrive safely? Accidents can happen on the road. Will there be someone at the other end where I can stay? In this situation of doubt and distress, we hear the Lord’s message today: “Do not let your heart be troubled. Trust in me. I am the way.”

GOSPEL READING
JOHN: 14: 1-12

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father.

FAMILY VISITS & HOME BLESSING
WHAT TO PREPARE

1. Table covered with a white cloth
2. Crucifix and 2 white candles
3. Water and salt for blessing (as much water as you want) and any religious items you would like blessed.
4. Small (metal) plate for a charcoal to burn incense (charcoal & incense will be brought by a priest)
5. It will be best if the whole family gathers together for prayer.

Please be mindful of the designated parking for persons with disabilities. Even if you are late for Mass, please leave the spaces FREE for persons with genuine disabilities

• Please be mindful of where you park your vehicles.
• Don’t park in front of the main entrance, making it difficult for the elderly and less-abled to get past.
• Don’t park in the driveway at the side of the hall.
• Don’t park in the designated disabled parking if you are able-bodied.
• THERE IS EXTRA PARKING UP NEAR THE PARISH OFFICE. PLEASE ASK ONE OF THE LEADERS TO OPEN THE MOTOR GATE

DEANERY MASS

Will be on the 28th of June 2026. Our target for the Deanery Seminarians Collection, which is presented at that Mass, is R16 000. This money is used for the training of our future priests.
A weekly second collection will start this weekend.

CATECHISM CHILDREN

Have resumed on Fridays @ 13h30, and on Sunday after Mass at RPP. At St Jude, Catechism classes are before Mass.

PUBLIC ROSARY CRUSADE

THE MONTH OF MAY

May is dedicated by the Catholic Church as a special month to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The May Crowning is a traditional devotion, where a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is crowned with flowers to honour (not worship) her as the Queen of Heaven and Earth and Mother of God, a title derived from her role in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. It signifies her role as Queen Mother and her spiritual maternity over the faithful.
Next weekend, being Mother’s Day, we will crown our statue with flowers at both Masses.

Let us pray that everyone, from large producers to small consumers, be committed to avoiding wasting food and to ensuring that everyone has access to quality food.
