17th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME. YEAR A
INTRODUCTION:
When you decided to come to church this morning, some of you may have had to make the difficult decision to leave other important matters behind. When you decided to come to mass this morning you were like the person who knew about a hidden treasure in a field, and who sold everything to buy that field. However, at times during the past week, you may not have made the right decision and have chosen the wrong path. Thus you are here to seek God’s forgiveness.
GOSPEL: MATHEW 13: 44 – 52
Jesus said to his disciples: “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. “Do you understand all these things?” They answered, “Yes.” And he replied, “Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.”

WORLD YOUTH DAY
Tue 1 Aug to Sun 9 Aug
“Mary arose and went with haste.”
(Lk 1:39)
Pope Francis and the youth will be celebrating World Youth Day.
Last Sunday we celebrated Grandparents and Elderly Day. Pope Francis appealed to them to work with the Youth. In order to join the Pope here in Ladysmith, we are calling all elderly to come together with youth on Sunday 6 August 2023 to honour Our Lady @ 8 am @ RPP & 10 am @ St Jude. Please bring flowers to decorate Mary’s Altar. We will pray one decade of the Rosary.
NGOME PILGRIMAGE
Regina Pacis Pilgrimage to Ngome Marian Shrine – Tabernacle Of The Most High
Date: 1 – 3 December 2023
There haven’t been enough bookings, for the Pilgrimage, so different options are available to all who would like to go.

- Option 3: Those who would prefer to use their own transport, their own accommodation, and provide their own meals.
- Meals at the shrine facilities must be pre-booked. You cannot arrive on the day & expect a meal if you have not booked. Please book through the parish office.
